About Me

I have been working with Children, Young People and parents for over 25 years. I started out as a teacher and then OFSTED inspector before working within Family Support helping and advising families through times of challenge. I am also a qualified Children and Young People’s Counsellor and offer sessions for parents struggling to understand their child’s behaviours to help build positive relationships.

I hold insurance and liability provisions and am a registered member of the BACP. As well as working in schools I offer private counselling to Children and Young People from 5 to 25 years of age in Banbury and Byfield areas. I have an enhanced DBS check renewed every year and a First Aid certification.

I specialise in working with Teens who have experienced trauma, self-harm, bereavement, loss, anxiety, depression, domestic abuse, family breakdown and addictions.

CPD/Training and Workshops I have attended over the last 5 years:

CBT for Children and Adolescents, Teen Anxiety, Teen substance use, Mental Health and Body Image, Managing Self-Harm during Lockdown, CBT Therapy for Anxiety and Depression, Covid-19 Psychological First Aid, Trauma and Attachment in Children and Families, Supporting Children’s Regulation, Calming the Anxious Brain, Mental Health First Aid, Introduction to Adverse Childhood Experiences, Understanding ADHD, Untangling Teen Anxiety, Supporting Students that Self-Harm, Helping Young People manage Low Mood and Depression, Supporting Children through Bereavement, Schools First Aid at work, Domestic Abuse Champions Training, Supporting Parents and Substance Misuse, Protect Training, Protective Behaviours, Lead Safeguarding Training, Working with challenging Families, Take 3 parenting, Family Links Parenting facilitator training, Bounce Back 4 Kids Facilitator Training, TIPS training, Level 2 in Counselling skills as well as MSc in Counselling Children and Young People.

I believe that my life experiences are equally as important as my professional and academic training in relation to children and young people. I have 2 children of my own, now in their teens and have spent a number of years within a military community travelling overseas and relocating on a number of times. I have been divorced and have faced the challenges of being a single parent through which I have learnt about my own strength, adaptability and resourcefulness. I carry my own life experiences with me, each one changed my life and had a different emotional impact on me, now I utilise those experiences to enhance the counselling service I offer and help others harness their own feelings.

I am a dedicated professional who aims to provide the highest level of service, discretion and professionalism at all times.
